What is Sisterhood Initiative?
Sisterhood Initiative (SI) is a young-women led civil society organization in Sri Lanka founded in 2020. We create safe spaces for young women to have conversations about gender equality, human rights, and social justice.
How can I join SI?
You can apply to join as a volunteer through our Volunteer Application page. We welcome young women from all backgrounds and faiths.
Where is SI based?
SI is primarily based in Colombo and Kandy, Sri Lanka, with members and activities expanding to other parts of the island including Puttalam.
What kind of work does SI do?
We conduct interactive dialogues, advocacy campaigns (including MMDA reform), fellowship programmes, interfaith events, and provide support services including legal consultations and psychosocial support.
How is SI funded?

Can men volunteer or participate?
SI is primarily focused on creating safe spaces for young women. However, we welcome allies and collaborators of all genders in certain events and initiatives. Follow our social media for upcoming opportunities.
